Standing up for our future! AAPI Rights Movement Briefing
March 26, 2021
Dear all,
In the current Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders(AAPI) rights movement, we, as Chinese Americans, have no hesitation.
Today I report to you our work progress, strategic thinking, calls and initiatives:
< Part One >:
1. In the past week, under the first wave of the nation’s main demands for anti-hate and justice, we took advantage of the momentum and went out to the front line. And on 3/20, 3/21 our voice was heard by the local media such as Dayton Daily News and TV stations (available online).
2. On Tuesday, I will meet with Chinese school and other Chinese representatives to have a successful dialogue with a local school district. At the Zoom meeting, the school district learned about the crisis that Asians are facing and our activities, and listened to everyone’s suggestions. The school district decided a statement would be issued to employees, students and parents of the entire school district, addressing hatred and discrimination against Asians, and preparing for follow-up cooperation in the future. (The link to its official statement will be released later).
3. This is an encouraging and stimulating progress. Many parents have already contacted their school districts and started actions. There are many examples that everyone has seen.
4. Looking forward, it is necessary to realize that solving the plight of Asian-Pacific descent, seeking long-term interests, and having a higher moral right to speak is a process of long-term arduous struggle. Therefore, there is no need to seek the continuation of the news exposure. What we seek is to move forward step by step.
5. We call on all Chinese and allies to act as parents to send messages to the superintendent, school board, principal or teachers of each school district to express their concerns and look forward to specific actions! Everyone should take turns to form a shock wave. The news will end sooner or later, but our work will last!
6. Our suggestion: We understand that everyone has a different opinion and has a diferent level of English proficiency. Stones from other mountains can polish jade. We can improve ourselves by accepting criticism from outside. DACA recommends that all parents who write letters share your emails with us. Please send to DACA’s email at daca.dayton@gmail.com. We will publish in the future.
< Part Two >:
1. We recommend some important gatherings in the near future: First, the Huber Heights Culture and Diversity Citizen Action Commission (Culture and Diversity Citizen Action Commission) tomorrow Saturday (3/27) noon organized by the community Racism and solidarity rally in solidarity with AAPI community.
location: Northpark Center, 8281 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, OH 45424
2. Online activities include: an organization called re-imaginingamerica.org ( re-imaginingamerica.org ) launched an online “Creating a Community of Well-Being” dialogue, tomorrow Saturday (3/27) ). The specific registration link is: https://www.eventbrite.com/x/help-create-a-community-of-well-being-tickets-138284806579 details can be seen on its webpage.
Let’s unite for our common future!

Dear all,
Northpark Center, 8281 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, OH 45424
(Creating a Community of Well-Being)”对话会,明天周六(3/27)上午还有。

Standing up for yourself! Unite and Oppose All Hate Crimes. - 2021.3.20
March 20, 2021
This week is destined to be a restless week for Asian Americans. On Tuesday (3/12), three massage parlors in Atlanta were attacked. 7 women and 1 man were killed, 6 of whom were Asian! Coupled with the recent intensive occurrences of discrimination and hate crimes against Asian Americans, this weekend, many cities across the United States will hold rallies and marches to protest discrimination and hate crime.
Everyone should take action, and Asians are not voiceless! We at DACA call on Chinese friends who wants to enforce justice and safeguard the interests of Asians to win their voice and support to be at Dayton down town at 1:00 pm on Saturday (3/20). The memorial meeting place is in Court Square: CountHouse Square, 23 North Main street, Dayton, OH 45202
You can also participate in other related activities, and there are also rallies and parades in nearby cities. Please wear a mask and maintain social distance.
At the same time, in the face of the Asian crisis, we will launch another online activity: Zoom Forum <Stop Asian Hate Stop the hate crimes against Asians! And how we can live safely>
Zoom ID: 8084288938; Password: 112200; Time: Sunday (3/21) 8-9pm; the organizer, the American Huaren Association, is one of our partners in the last event.
Reposting is encouraged, and everyone who recognizes the situation and values the future should come and participate!
The situation facing us Asians and Chinese is grim, but it has been a century of coldness, and accidents are an inevitable reflection of deep-rooted problems. After a series of stress responses such as rallies and parades, we still have a long way to go to address how to change the long-term predicament, how to protect long-term interests, and how to stand on a higher morality. Let’s work side by side with friends and people of common interest.
Best wishes,
Hongwei Yu

CountHouse Square, 23 North Main street, Dayton, OH 45202
