*English version at the end of the article

Sunday March 24,    1:15 PM Movie @ Dayton Chinese Christian Church,    600 Patterson St. Dayton, OH 45419

President of DACA,

Dayton Association of Chinese Americans

[English Version]

Committed to expanding the influence of Chinese reputation, improving the political status of Chinese people, and seeking Chinese welfare and protection, has always been one of the ethics and directions of our DACA Chinese Association for many years.
With this in mind, after months of unremitting efforts, we will launch a major event in the local area: two free screenings of the charity film Sight” on March 23 and March 24, which tell the story of Chinese students who study, work, achieve and contribute to society in the United States. Dr. Wang Mingxu, one of the outstanding representatives of the Chinese community and a Christian at the same time, will also be present to give a speech on his story and testimony, and sign the book. The dialogue is bilingual in English and Chinese, with corresponding subtitles.
1.  A lot of information about this film and Dr. Wang Mingxu can be referred to the following links:
Trailer with Chinese subtitles:
One of the Chinese reports: HKUST alumni who bring light to the world https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/p7jY8vtdoYJZyDaPSGzmFg
This activity has obvious positive impacts on social benefits, cultural development, Chinese interests, and intergenerational well-being. The hard work of many visionaries and enthusiasts in our DACA Chinese community has led to fantastic results, with Dayton winning two of the five screenings held in the four major cities of 3C1D” throughout Ohio. Many of them are still actively promoting them.
2.  Some explanations on specific matters:
  •  DACA provided free pizza for both screenings this weekend.
  • In order to go smoothly, especially to facilitate the preparation of a reasonable amount of food, it is highly recommended that you pre-register! For details, please see the promotional poster Flyer at the back, or click on the registration link below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfAx4HeRsE1z_ilm8RkTOnHFUECKVPJ7Ow2JH3y2jHkq8ridg/viewform
  • Pay attention to the on-site process, if you want to receive food, please arrive at the venue in advance according to the time indicated on the poster, and the food supply will end before the screening. Presentations and book autographs will be held after the screening.
  • Movie screening time and place:
    • Saturday March 23, 6:30 PM Movie @ Fairborn United Methodist Church, 100 N. Broad St. Fairborn, OH 45324
    • Sunday March 24, 1:15 PM Movie @ Dayton Chinese Christian Church, 600 Patterson St. Dayton, OH 45419 (Dayton Chinese Christian Church)

3.  in terms of publicity and promotion, we believe that there are four levels of effort:

  • Online social platform. Based on the consensus mentioned above, please mobilize and work together to promote, such as email, WeChat groups, etc. Those who receive the information and who have this article please spread it widely.
  • Institutions and community organizations. For example, libraries, schools, organizations and associations in various regions use these platforms to promote.
  • Political institutions and party organizations. For example, earlier this month I made a presentation to local government workers and certain party candidates. Please work hard to promote it in your network.
  • People you know, such as your colleagues, neighbors, and friends. Do you often feel cultural differences in your daily life, study, and work, and do you want the people around you to know more about your cultural characteristics and the stories of Chinese people serving American society? Then now is your chance. You can visit the national screening agency website for this film at https://www.angel.com/movies/sight

For $5 at one-third of the regular price, buy a movie ticket as a gift (the promotion can be stopped at any time) and invite them to watch it at the national release on May 24 Memorial Day Weekend. Think about it, it’s a very smart move to bring people from different cultural backgrounds around you, your neighbors, your colleagues, your friends to experience your culture and the stories of the Chinese people. Remember, this is not only the story of the Chinese, the story of Asians, but also the story of the Americans.

Thank you for participating! All information is available on the DACA website: http://thedaca.org/

DACA Board Notice

DACA Board Notice

2023.8.31

Dear all,

Hello to all the new and old members of the DACA Chinese Association, as well as the new friends and old friends  in the Dayton Chinese community.

In the past few years during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite facing significant challenges, our board of directors and the members of the Chinese community have continued to put in a tremendous amount of effort. We have had a lasting and positive impact on Dayton society. Internally, we have also achieved new milestones in terms of organization. As the pandemic wanes, many regular activities are gradually resuming. For example, at the beginning of this summer, we overcame numerous difficulties and adverse factors and successfully participated in the International Festival, which resumed after a three-year  cancellation. During this period, many new enthusiastic volunteers emerged.

The autumn season is the time for our association to elect new directors and even select a new leadership team. However, this year, this task is facing special difficulties: First, the current directors have been holding their positions for a long time due to the delay caused by the pandemic, and many have left, resulting in the need to add six to ten directors now. Second, changes in social life due to the pandemic and the long-term impact of social media platforms distorting social life have led to a need for an increase in the number of individuals who are willing to participate in serving the Chinese community. Third, although some preparation and work have been done, the progress in this task is still more challenging than anticipated.

In lieu of this here is the special announcement:

  1. All directors, former directors, Chinese Association volunteers, and compassionate individuals who are willing to participate in serving the Chinese community, take this seriously, carefully consider the needs of our Chinese Association, the needs of the Chinese cause, and the needs of the Chinese future. Whether you are willing to dedicate yourself, take on responsibilities, nominate yourself, or earnestly recommend suitable candidates, let us work together to continue our great mission.
  2. As per tradition, the Autumn celebration ceremony for the new directors, which typically take place in the middle of next month, have to be postponed (possibly until October). If the weather turns colder, the event will be held indoors, and it will be a member-centric gathering. Whether indoors or outdoors, the place of the gathering is already put into consideration.
  3. Once again, we call upon and earnestly request those with the willingness to step forward and contribute to our common interests and cause! Your efforts are welcome in promoting within the Chinese community, and we look forward to your email response.

Best regards,

Tai Chi Quan( Starting from 2023.5.17)

Introduction to Chen’s Tai Chi

Chen’s Tai Chi Quan originated from Chen Jia Gou in Henan Province, China. It is one of the earliest forms of Tai Chi Quan. Compared with the common and slow move, Chen’s Tai Chi Quan goes from slow to fast, and then slow again. ‘.Start from looseness and softness again, emphasizing ‘the accumulation of softness into rigidity, the combination of rigidity and softness’. Alternating fast and slow is to take into account two different training methods, aerobic and anaerobic. Combining rigidity and softness is to increase muscle endurance and improve joint flexibility. All movements must be coordinated with breathing during practice to improve the value of health and fitness.

Chen’s Tai Chi Quan is based on the principle of standing upright and supporting on all sides. The core muscles of the abdomen are used as the driving force. It actively stretches the back spine, which is the main support of the human body. It can correct the curved body shape and reduce the back of the human body. burden. The movements of Chen’s Tai Chi Quan are composed of curved, arc-shaped and spiral movements. It is also the so-called “winding silk strength”. From the appearance, it is to twist and twist the limbs in an arc-shaped spiral, thus forming a series of infinitely extended and complex spatial spiral exercises.
